Born in Los Angeles, Dr. DeVault grew up in Salisbury, Md., the son of a urologist. He studied economics and played collegiate lacrosse at Haverford (Pa.) College, just outside Philadelphia.
Turning his attention to medicine, Dr. DeVault earned a B.S. in micro and molecular biology at the University of Central Florida before attending medical school at the University of South Florida. He did his internal medicine residency and internship at the University of Tennessee Memphis College of Medicine. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2002.
He has worked in the Stuart area with David Bright, M.D., at outpatient clinics of the Martin Memorial Medical Group, at Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie, Inc., and with Chad Harvey, M.D. He has been in private practice at his current office location since 2005.
Prior to his medical education and training, Dr. DeVault worked as an international botanist for a Costa Rica–based company, owned and operated a tropical flower business in Cocoa Beach, and captained vessels as a U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton ocean operator. He has traveled the world—from the islands of the Caribbean to the snowy peaks of the Himalayas, from South America to Europe to the Middle and Far East.
In addition to travel, Dr. DeVault’s interests and hobbies include triathlons, rowing, surfing, sailing, SCUBA, art collecting, music, archaeology, ornithology, and horticulture.
Dr. DeVault has three children and is married to Elizabeth Grimes DeVault.
